Our first rehearsal at Applegarth Primary School

What an absolutely fantastic start to our new wind band!

As Musical Director, I couldn’t have been more delighted with our very first rehearsal. From the moment everyone arrived, there was a wonderful sense of enthusiasm, friendship and excitement about what we are creating together.

Starting a brand-new band is always a special occasion, but hearing everyone play together for the first time was quite something. There was a great sound in the room from the very beginning, plenty of smiles and laughter, and, most importantly, a real sense that this is going to become a very happy and welcoming group.

We enjoyed a varied selection of music during the evening, and I was so impressed by the standard of playing and the willingness of everyone to get stuck in. For a group of musicians coming together for the very first time, the results were amazing – and there were already some genuinely fabulous musical moments!

What excited me most, though, was the atmosphere. We want this band to be somewhere people can enjoy making good music, meet friends and look forward to coming along each week. Judging by our first rehearsal, I think we have the beginnings of something very special indeed.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make our first night such a success. I left the rehearsal feeling incredibly excited about what lies ahead.

If our first rehearsal is anything to go by, we have some wonderful music-making ahead of us!
